All-Star orgy
Sidney Crosby has overtaken the 3 Habs players – namely Koivu, Tanguay and Kovalev – in the Eastern all-star game ballot.
Crosby has 55 thousand votes, roughly 4 thousand more than his closest challenger, Awesome Kovy.
And Evgeni ‘Noooo, I do not need facial reconstruction surgery’ Malkin is closing in on Alex Tanguay, with only 2 thousand votes to make up.
On defense, Mike Komisarek is still out with injury, which jeopardizes his position in the All-Star game since the NHL requires that a player must have played 20 games before January 2nd to be eligible to play. And since his two closest challengers – Ryan Whitney and Sergei Gonchar – are also out injured, Anrei Markov may find himself paired up with the (we think) human giraffe/godzilla/unusually large object Zdeno Chara at the blue line.
Carey Price is almost a shoe-in to get the nod, with the closest challenger being Marc-Andre Fleury (who is also out with an injury) at 16 thousand votes behind.
Which brings me to the point of my post: VOTE FUCK! WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE! DO YOU NOT WANA SEE KOVY’S FLOWING LOCKS BOUNCE IN THE BELL CENTRE AIR AS THE 1ST LINE WINGER!?
No, you’d like to see Sidney Crosby’s Reebok-ness Reebok all over the ice and then he’ll be like “Hello. I’m Sidney Crosby. Buy a Reebok product today and save a gazelle from killing its mother!”.
Yeah, I know Crosby is a better player than Koivu. Yes, I know Malkin leads the league in points. But the NHL wants the All-Star game to be a popularity contest, which is why they make it possible for any person to vote more than once. It’s also the reason they open the balloting months before the game, months before any player has reached the 20 game mark required to play.
Let’s vote all over these fuckers. Let’s make it a good ol’ Canadiens orgy.
