Canadiens blanked as Wild run riot

Did we really expect anything else from a Jacque Lemaire team? Extremely solid defence, and one of the quickest transitions in the league. A tip-in off Kovy, a too many men penalty, more turn-overs than a French bakery, Rickard’s Red that kind of tasted like Coors at the restaurant…it just wasn’t a good night tonight.

Hey, it happens. 9 games in 12 nights was bound to catch up with the players. They looked tired and like they were playing with not getting injured as their first objective. What a player that Gaborik is though, he’s so quick on his skates, it’s pretty sexy to watch. Let’s talk about the game though: Nothing worked, nothing! Yeah, we had a couple of chances, but the Wild were not only really quick; they played the same way Detroit did when they won the cup last year. Crisp passes, strong forecheck, constant movement…

Backstrom is a great goaltender (did you see that save on Lats?). But really, did the fans have to boo the team tonight? Come on! It’s the last preseason game, they’re tired, teams have bad nights, nights like this when nothing works happen, the players are only human. Judge them on the season, not on a useless preseason game.

Positive aspects from tonight’s game:

- Lang’s line might just make me eat my words! A couple of very nice plays tonight
- As long as we have Andrei Kostitsyn, we always threaten to score
- Alex Tanguay is a heck of a player
- Yanick Weber speaks french funny
