Game-day bonanza : Habs - Coyotes

Wayne Gretzky the head coach has not had the same success or notorierity as Wayne Gretzky the player…so far. He brings his troops to face the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre tonight.

Let’s look at both teams:

Our year so far: The amazing Habs have a nearly perfect record so far in this centennial year. Following a tough opening-day loss against the Buffalo Sabres in Sabre Land, the Canadiens silenced some doubters by posting (impressive) victories over Toronto, (a little bit impressive) Philadelphia and (really not impressive) Boston.
Their year so far: The dogs have opened their season with 2 victories ( Columbus B.J’s, Mighty Ducks) and 2 defeats (Denis Savardians, Spartans) for a perfect .500 record after 4 games.

Good guy updates: According to Habs Inside Out, Yale will be in the lineup tonight, suiting up next to Dirty Harry and Robert Lang.

Enemy updates: The 3 young guns (more like water balloons), with apparently huge potential, are all in the lineup. I’m talking about Kevin Porter, Mikkel Boedker and Viktor Tikhonov. I say apparently ’cause I haven’t watched any Coyote games. I don’t get animal planet.(that joke is good) And I don’t care.

Soft spot for the enemy: None. They’re all annoying. Actually, maybe Bryzgalov. But still, Russian…ehhhhh.

Who will probably score for us: Watch Chris Higgins score a goal. He looked so angry not to be playing on Saturday, so expect him to put in a Maurice Richard-like performance with 5 goals and 3 assists for an awesome 8 points. Latendresse will score tonight as well.

Who will probably score on us: The better Jokinen and Shane ‘I’m related to Carey Price’ Doan are monstahs. Like from that Bugs Bunny and Michael Jordan movie.

Who will definitely not score for us: Bryan Smolinski.

Who will definitely not score on usVictor Tikhonov. Just ’cause you’re the grandson of one of the best former goaltenders, doesn’t mean you’re good. It is what it is!

Prediction: After a loss in their last game against the Senators, Phoenix will want to get back on track tonight in Montreal. Easier said than done, ’cause let’s face it, we’re awesome. Guillaume Latendresse will have a good game, Jokinen will be a pest to deal with, and the Canadiens will come out 3-0 winners. If my initial prediction is horribly off after this game, then I will edit this post and make it look like I was right.
