Game-day Bonanza : Habs – Rangers
Shit just got real. One game. Madison Square Garden. Win and you’re in. Lose and you suck. Habs – Rangers.
Let’s look at both teams:
Our year so far: We need to win tonight. I doubt any Canadiens fan will ever forget this 100th season. What other team can lose its top point-getter 3 times during the year and still be in contention for a playoff spot? First it was Alex Tanguay, then it was Robert Lang, and now Andrei Markov. Just as we stayed competitive when the first 2 went down (albeit with lots of hardship), it’s time to show that it can be done with our best player missing.
Their year so far: John Tortorella turned his team around and is making them play better hockey, but they’ve lost 2 in a row and need this win perhaps more than we do. If we play our cards right, I’m pretty sure that we can get them to do nasty stuff for us – the kind you only did in high school when the girl you liked invited you over to her basement to ’watch a movie’. But when you got there, you realised that you had already watched that movie last week, so you quickly buckled down and got ready for the ride of your life. …Is it just me or are high schools corrupt these days?
Good guy updates: Carey’s back in to get us into the playoffs. The ‘Franchise’ has to show up and do what he’s supposed to do. No word yet on whether or not Andrei Kostitsyn will play. If I’m Bob Gainey with that bald spot and those googly eyes, I play Dandy on D and tell Ryan O’Byrne to go to the parking lot and look for his game, or his hitting.
Enemy updates: Avery’s still a douche, but he’s a douche that can play when he wants to. I just don’t understand that little bonehead move to Thomas the other day. I mean, I hate Thomas as much as the next ice-cream vendor, and I understand needing to get your team going, but you can get your team going by skating hard and playing with passion, not gently bumping into the goalie while he’s not looking.
Soft spot for the enemy: None right now. We need this too much.
Who will probably score for us: Ryan O’Byrne. If he does, I’ll upload a video of me eating my dog’s underwear.
Who will probably score on us: Sean Avery. Sadly, it’s been that kinda season.
Who will definitely not score for us: Tim Robbins.
Who will definitely not score on us: Markus Naslund is cold. Remember when he used to play for Vancouver and had that rap cd? Or was that Tony Parker?
Get well soon: Robert Lang, Andre & Sergei Kostitsyn, Andrei Markov and Schneida
Site you should visit before I visit you in the middle of the night and make you wish you were sharing a Carribean cruise with Nick Cage: Scotty Hockey! It’s a lotta fun, I hear it’s all the rage. Plus, HE HAS POLLS! I wish I knew how to make polls.
Prediction: A lot of grit and lots of pucks and sticks. We have to work hard, we’re not playing the Nicks. Hopefully Pleks will score, it’ll be his first goal since 1982. Oh who am I kidding, he’s got worse hands right now than Winnie the Pooh. All I know, is that you all need your arrow and bow. And sing with me now, Go Habs Go!
