Game-day Bonanza : Habs – Wild
The last team to suffer a regulation loss this season, the Minnesota Wild, will host the awesomest team in the league, the Montreal Canadiens tonight in St Paul, Minnesota.
Let’s look at both teams:
Our year so far: The expectations were always going to be enormous for the Canadiens coming into their centennial season, but they were made even higher by last season’s impressive finish as 1st in the East. Our blue-blanc-rouge haven’t disappointed though, with the only loss in regulation so far coming against Emilio Estevez’s men on Saturday night.
Their year so far: Minnesota have gotten off to a similar start as the Canadiens. They lost their first game in regulation last night against Ribeiro and his buddies in Dallas, but have otherwise have a terrific record of 6-1-1.
Good guy updates: Carbonneau surprised a few people when he announced that Laraque will not be in the lineup tonight, and Ryan O’byrne is gona be replaced with Patrice Brisebois. Handsome and Iceman will be healthy scratches for the second straight game.
Enemy updates: That Mikko Koivu eh!? Leads all Minnesotaians with 13 points on the season, and Anti Miettinen isn’t far behind with 10. Those Finns…
Soft spot for the enemy: I don’t know. They have a fan-base in Minnesota, they sell out every game almost. Imagine that!
Who will probably score for us: Plekanec will finally get a goal this season, one that isn’t without a goaltender in nets. Hollywood too. Koivu’s streak of getting a point each game for I don’t know how many games ended Tuesday night, but he was still the hero by sliding a puck under Cam Ward for the shootout winner, and that was really nice of him.
Who will probably score on us: Eric Belanger, just ’cause. Seriously though, Mikko Koivu has to be watched closely. We have to keep our eyes on him like the Secret Service followed John Lennon back in the 70′s.
Who will definitely not score for us: Tender Gender is seriously stinking up the beautiful music Tongue and Hook are making. I want him to do good, being the “Quebecois sensation” and whatnot. But come on man, it’s like Steve Irwin…you wana feel bad for him, but you just can’t. OH DAMN! THAT’S RIGHT! I SAID IT! SNAP!
Who will definitely not score on us: Owen Nolan. As if the Irish can play hockey. YEAH OK!
Prediction: If both teams play to their potential, this could be a bombastic game. If not, it’ll just be another game in Minnesota. We’re gona win 5-4, you heard it here first.
