Just like old times…

Mathieu Schneider being presented to the Montreal media

Hey, what do you know? Bob heard me, and he went out and got Mathieu Schneider from the Trashers. (no typo there)

The veteran (I might have exagerated on the above picture) blueliner came in exchange of a 2nd rounder in ’09 and a 3rd rounder in ’10. A bit steep if you ask me, but oh well.

He also becomes the second highest paid player on the team after Andrei Markov.

Let’s analyse this! (you can’t spell analyse without anal)

The BMW’s of this deal:

-Mobile and reliable defenseman
-He’ll help out on the powerplay with his good slapper
-Cool under pressure and actually hits, unike our defensemen
-His name isn’t Ryan O’Byrne

The Ford’s of this deal:

-He’s OLD man!
-I think we gave up just a bit much for him
-His name isn’t Jay Bouwmeester
But like I said, with the storm coming down hard on le Club de Hockey Canadiens, Bob had to something, ANYTHING, to try to give this team a spark. Is this what we needed? Something tells me no, but it’s a start.
