SERIOUSLY?
The Montreal Canadiens have just traded Steve Begin (ie one of maybe 4 players who never takes a shift off) to the Dallas Stars for All-Star fucken defenseman Doug Janik.
I don’t understand this decision. Ok, it makes sense on the financial side of things, but I am almost positive that if you had offered Steve a considerable pay cut just so he could stay with the team beyond this season, he wouldn’t have turned it down. The guy always plays his heart out and is a HUGE crowd favorite, and we trade him for what? DOUG FUCKEN JANIK? REALLY? DOUG FUCKEN FUCKEN JANIK? REAAAAALLY?! I would have been happier if we had traded Chris Higgins. I am very, very, very sad. I’m so sad, cum is coming out of my eyes.
Begin was a top professional too. While guys names Georges Laraque (who I’ll get to later) are bitching about playing time when he’s been here 6 months, Begin (who’s been here 6 years) has barely spoken of the situation and just kept practicing hard.
Would you rather have Kyle Chipchura or Steve Begin? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM……
The Stars must LOVE doing business with us. We gave ‘em Robidas, Ribeiro and now Handsome Steve. And in return we get uhhh…uhhh….umm….yeaaaahh…this is embarassing.
I could sit here and type a page or two trying to analyse this trade like a good little Habs blog should, I could sit here and try to see the positives and negatives of this deal, I could ALSO sit here and look up Janik’s stats and see how he’d maybe help a team that already has 8 defenseman and many more promising prospects in the farm, but instead I’ll just say this:
